UKSIF Response: BEIS Committee Net Zero Governance inquiry

UKSIF is pleased to respond to the BEIS Committee’s Net Zero Governance inquiry, which is examining the leadership and co-ordination needed by government to deliver on the UK’s commitment to reach net zero by 2050.

In our response, we express our view that action on climate change and sustainability broadly should be more deeply embedded across all government departments, including Treasury. On HMT, we reiterate our call for government to explore the introduction of a dedicated ‘net-zero’ chapter in Budget statements delivered by the Chancellor, explaining how the tax and spending decisions announced bring the UK closer towards this objective.
