Letter from UKSIF to Chancellor on UK leadership on biodiversity

On behalf of the UK’s sustainable finance sector, UKSIF has written a letter to the Chancellor outlining a series of commitments for the UK to adopt to meaningfully integrate biodiversity risks and opportunities into firms’ decision-making and policymaking during the UK’s Presidency of COP26 and ahead of the UN Biodiversity Conference in China next year.

Our recommendations on biodiversity for government cover: TNFD and the importance of the UK encouraging the G20 and other countries to engage with the Taskforce and endorse its work; the necessity of a ‘Global Goal for Nature’ and aligning financial flows with this Goal in the new Post 2020 Global Biodiversity Framework; taking forward the Dasgupta Review to consider more tailored policy recommendations for finance and businesses; and embedding natural capital in the remit of the new National Infrastructure Bank.
