Parliamentary Programme
UKSIF's parliamentary and government programme aimed to educate about SRI. A major milestone in the programme was the launch of the All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) on SRI in 1998. UKSIF provided the secretariat for the APPG on SRI; co-ordinated and prepared briefings for APPG members; and organised APPG meetings about prominent issues within the field.
The APPG on SRI aimed to promote debate and understanding about SRI and to ensure that SRI issues are considered wherever relevant during the framing of legislation. Areas of interest included:
- Institutional investment and SRI for pension fund investment
- Consumer investment and SRI: The Ethical Question?
- Corporate Disclosure of social and environmental performance
- Stimulating enterprise, investment and wealth creation in under-invested communities
- Islamic Finance
- Listings Requirements
UKSIF's consumer and institutional SRI programmes were instrumental in feeding into the 2003/2004 agenda of APPG meetings.
