Cazenove Capital Management (CCM) is an independent and client-driven asset management company, combining specialist investment management services with impartial advice. We believe that active management which combines business cycle-led investment insights, detailed analysis of individual companies and a structured approach to risk management will lead to outperformance in different market conditions.

Our primary aim is to meet clients’ investment objectives within agreed risk parameters. To achieve this we manage client’s assets via a rigorous investment process including analysis of both financial and non-financial factors. It is our belief that our quality companies, operating at an environmentally and socially sustainable level are more likely to deliver long-term shareholder value.

CCM manages over £9bn of assets on behalf of HNWI, family offices, charities and specialist institutions. Tomorrow's company is a business-led think tank, working as a catalyst to help realise the Tomorrow's Company vision – a future for business which makes equal sense to staff, shareholders and society.

A membership organisation, Tomorrow's Company publishes research, brings practical business people together to generate and share ideas, puts those ideas into the public domain and influences decision makers in companies, the investment community, stakeholder groups, business schools, and government.

In June 2004, Tomorrow's Company published Restoring Trust: investment in the twenty-first century, following two years of consultation with over 500 practitioners and interest groups representing all parts of the investment chain and taking an overview of the whole investment business. The Inquiry Team that produced it was led by Sir Richard Sykes. The report warns that the only way for the UK investment system to deliver better value to customers is for concerted and collective action by the industry itself. Tomorrow's Company is now working with the investment industry to progress the agenda for change described in the report.

cru Investment Management was founded in 2005 to offer a more relevant approach to the investment needs of the private client, majoring on absolute returns. cru Investment Management aims to deliver returns ahead of cash and seeks to do so over a period of at least five years.

In the summer of 2005 Jon Maguire (Chairman of cru Investment Management), grew increasingly concerned about predictions of orphan numbers in sub-Saharan Africa.  He decided to start an investment in Malawi, one of sub-Saharan Africa’s poorest countries. At the time Jon had no idea if the venture would be profitable, but as he started seeing substantial returns on his investment, the Africa Invest Fund was born.  Africa Invest was established in 2006. Africa Invest Malawi now owns seven farms across the country and is looking to expand in neighboring Sub-Saharan countries.  Each farm runs a feeding programme to take care of the vulnerable people in the area including widows, orphans and the elderly.  They are given nutritious porridge 7 days a week to prevent malnutrition.

Africa Invest has continually focused on and insisted that their commitment to poverty reduction is an absolute. In respect to the £2million pilot scheme their profit motive was only to prove the investment case, on the basis that this will then attract further investment and by multiplication of investment schemes the future of Africa will improve substantially. As Africa Invest continually stress, giving has failed Africa whereas investment can transform her. Africa Invest now has over 2,000 employees, over 8,000 families participating in out grower schemes and 1,700 children and elderly in feeding programmes.

This investment enables Africa Invest to irrigate the land and therefore harvest two or three crops a year instead of one. Providing irrigation to small holder farmers is currently in the planning stage and other businesses, such as aquaculture, livestock and soya processing, are now being appraised.

Co-operative Financial Services (CFS) is the name for the group of businesses that includes Co-operative Insurance and The Co-operative Bank including smile. CFS’ core business is the provision of financial services – banking, insurance and investment products – to corporate, business and personal customers.

The Ethical Policy of the Co-operative Bank and smile was formulated after an extensive programme of customer consultation, and stipulates who the Bank will and will not finance, as directed by customers. It covers all of the Bank’s assets (e.g. retail and syndicated loans, and corporate leasing) and liabilities (e.g. retail deposits and savings, and treasury dealings), along with the investment of all retained balances. The Bank’s Ethical Policy is currently all but unique in UK retail banking, in that it is customer-led and contains explicit clauses that restrict the provision of financial services to certain activities and sectors.

Co-operative Insurance's approach to socially responsible investment was launched in 1999.  During 2002, Co-operative Insurance became the first UK investor to disclose its entire UK voting record via its website, and this was extended to overseas companies in 2005.  In June 2005, Co-operative Insurance became the world's first insurance company to launch a customer-led ethical engagement policy to guide its responsible shareholding activities.
