Dr Steve Waygood (Chair), Aviva Investors
Steve Waygood leads Aviva Investor’s Sustainable and Responsible Investment (SRI) engagement and voting strategy, and works closely with both the SRI and Corporate Governance teams.
Steve joined Aviva in November 2006 and the investment industry in 1997. He previously worked for Insight Investment, where he was a Director in the Investor Responsibility team, and Friends Ivory and Sime (now F&C), as a senior analyst in the Governance and SRI team.
Steve has been on the UKSIF board since 2003. He was also a member of both the expert and advisory groups to the United Nations Principles for Responsible Investment.
Steve holds the Investment Management Certificate, a PhD in SRI, and has written two books on the subject.
Sagarika Chatterjee (Vice Chair), F&C Management
Sagarika Chatterjee is an Associate Director in the Governance and Sustainable Investment (GSI) Team at F&C Management Ltd, a London-based global asset management company.
Sagarika manages research and policy development for F&C's Stewardship ethical fund range. She is responsible for coverage of the retail sector and has a geographical focus on Europe and Asia. Sagarika also leads her team's shareholder engagement programme on Labour Standards and business. She is an advisory board member of SEDEX.
Sagarika joined F&C in 2002 from the buying team of DIY retailer B&Q (Kingfisher), where her role was to source timber products from sustainably-managed forests. Prior to this she worked in B&Q's Finance and Retail Operations Teams and for Castorama.
She holds an MSc in Development Studies from the University of London, a postgraduate Diploma in Management Studies from the University of Oxford, and a BA in Social and Politicial Sciences from the University of Cambridge.
Helen Wildsmith (Vice Chair), CCLA Investment Management
Helen Wildsmith joined CCLA in August 2008 as Head of Ethical & Responsible Investment. She is responsible for developing and implementing CCLA’s client-driven approach in this evolving area.
Prior to this she worked as a consultant to CCLA and the sector, and was UKSIF’s Executive Director from 2002 to 2005, having been Assistant Director in Ashridge’s Centre for Business & Society before that.
She started her career at NatWest in 1990, specialising in strategy development and project management across the group, and has an MSc in Voluntary Sector Organisation from the London School of Economics and an MPhil in Futures Studies.
Peter Webster (Treasurer), EIRIS
Peter Webster has been Executive Director of EIRIS since its foundation in the 1980s, and has been involved in the promotion and development of responsible investment in its various forms throughout the last 25 years. Peter is a regular conference speaker as well as advising clients on the creation or development of new approaches to responsible investment.
His current interests in this field include how PRI signatories can implement the commitments they sign up to in ways that make a significant difference to corporate performance and reporting across all the Global Compact issues (Environment, Human Rights, Labour Standards and Combating Bribery); the most effective role investors can play in advancing the Climate Change agenda; and what can be learnt from the experience of responsible investors and the models of corporate responsibility that they have encouraged that is of relevance to the re-structuring of the present international financial system in ways the re-build trust and confidence and reduce the prospect of future "crunches".
Katie Gordon, Cazenove Capital Management Ltd
Katie Gordon joined Cazenove in 2000. She is Manager of Socially Responsible Investment (SRI). Katie is responsible for the Social, Environmental and Ethical research process which applies to Pan European investments and for client ethical restriction implementation. Katie joined from the marketing company Swordfish where she was the founding account director following 5 years in strategic marketing. She is a Fellow of the Royal Geographic Society.
David Harris, FTSE Group
David is Head of Responsible Investment at FTSE Group. FTSE’s RI indices include the FTSE4Good, the FTSE KLD Sustainability, and the Environmental Markets Index Series. His responsibilities include overseeing corporate engagement with index constituents, management of research providers, and development of new RI indices. David started his career with Arthur D. Little's Environment & Risk Practice, and has also worked for PwC's climate change team. He has an MSc in Environmental Technology, an IMC from the UK Society of Investment Professionals, and a first class degree in Biological Sciences from Oxford University. David also serves as a judge for the Financial Times Sustainable Banking Awards.
Aled Jones, London Pensions Fund Authority
Aled Jones joined the Investment Team of the London Pensions Fund Authority (LPFA) in 2009. The LPFA is one of England’s largest local authority pension schemes with over 73,000 members and assets of over £3 billion.
My-Linh Ngo, Henderson Global Investors
My-Linh Ngo is Associate Director SRI Research in the Sustainable & Responsible Investment (SRI) team at Henderson Global Investors, a leading fund management company My-Linh has responsibility for sustainability and corporate responsibility (CR) analysis and engagement for Henderson SRI funds.
She is currently a member of the Thomson-Reuters and GSK advisory boards; the Access to Medicines Foundation Advisory Committee, and the UKSIF Research & Analyst Services Advisory Group.
My-Linh has been with Henderson since 2000. She has a BSc Hons degree in Environmental Sciences, and two masters, one in Environmental Management, and the other on Leadership for Sustainable Development. My-Linh has also attained her Investment Management Certificate (IMC).
Julian Parrott, Ethical Futures
Julian is an independent financial adviser specialising in ethical investment. A partner in Edinburgh-based firm Ethical Futures, he advises personal, SME, trust and charity clients throughout Scotland.
Julian has over 20 years experience in personal finance gained in management and adviser roles with institutions including building societies, life assurance companies and national IFA firms. In 2000 he decided to move out of the large company sector to develop his interest in ethical investment and financial planning advice. After four years as a director with the Ethical Investment Cooperative, Julian launched his current advisory practice, Ethical Futures.
Recently appointed Chair elect of the steering group the UKSIF IFA chapter, the Ethical Investment Association, Julian is keen to promote the merits of ethical and sustainable investment to the wider adviser community.
Julian is a member of the Personal Finance Society and in 2007 was named Money Management Ethical Investment Planner of the year.
James Vaccaro, Triodos Bank
James Vaccaro is Managing Director of Investment Banking (UK) at Triodos Bank, which specialises in ethical investment and was awarded the title Sustainable Bank of the Year in 2009. He has worked for Triodos since 1998 and is a specialist in environmental and social finance.
He is the Managing Director of Triodos Renewables plc (which invests in renewable energy projects), has worked on venture capital funds across Europe and micorfinance projects in Africa & Asia and has been lead advisor for public share issues to a number of ethical PLCs including Cafedirect and the Ethical Property Company. He is a trustee of a local community development association and has been a non-executive director of several sustainability-led companies in the UK as part of venture capital portfolios.
Amanda Young, Newton Investment Management
Amanda Young is the SRI Officer at Newton Investment Management, heading up SRI research and engagement on behalf of Newton's institutional, retail, charity and private clients. Amanda joined Newton in 2008 and focuses on integrating environmental, social and governance matters into the investment process.
Amanda started her career at Rabobank International in economic research after graduating from Lancaster University in 1997, with a BSc in Psychology. Prior to working at Newton, Amanda was the Senior SRI Analyst at CCLA Investment Management, the specialist church and charity fund manager.
Amanda is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts following her work raising environmental and social awareness in business. Amanda is also a member of the UKSIF Research & Analyst Services Advisory Group.
