1981 First Social Investment Forum launched in the United States
1984 First UK retail ethical fund launched
1991 UK Social Investment Forum launched
1992 UKSIF and other Social Investment Forums adopt the 'Rio Resolution'
1996 Over £1bn held in UK retail ethical funds
1997 UKSIF appoints first full-time staff member
1998 UKSIF provides secretariat for All-Party Parliamentary Group on Socially Responsible Investment, created by Tony Colman MP
2000 SRI disclosure regulation become law
2000 'Enterprising Communities: Wealth Beyond Welfare' published by Sir Ronald Cohen's Social Investment Task Force, with UKSIF providing secretariat
2001 UKSIF and partners create European Social Investment Forum (Eurosif)
2004 Over £5bn held in UK retail ethical funds
2006 UKSIF launches Sustainable Pensions Project
2007 UKSIF celebrates its first 15 years with a reception at 11 Downing Street
2008 UKSIF launches world's-first National Ethical Investment Week encouraging consumers to choose a green and ethical investment option
2009 UKSIF changes its name to UK Sustainable Investment and Finance
